Description
As the levels of violence in Mexico have risen, fewer foreign humanitarian groups are offering volunteer labor, and many spring-break service trips are on hold. One organization defies that trend: Casas por Cristo, or Homes for Christ. The group, based in El Paso, builds homes in the outskirts of Mexico's deadliest city, Ciudad Juarez.
