Cacao Farming in MexicoGrant Fuller/World Vision Update
A woman toasts cacao beans to remove the outer flaky layers and reveal the inner core.
Description
Does chocolate grow on trees? Yes — at least, in its original form. Cacao beans grow in football-shaped pods on shaded trees, and it takes several labor-intensive steps to transform cacao into the delicious chocolate so many know and love.
We sent reporter Grant Fuller out to a Mexican cacao farm to witness the process — and to taste the results.
