He was born in Vancouver where he worked as a daily reporter for print and radio, but after reading one too many books written by foreign correspondents he decided to move overseas. Jared has reported from countries in West Africa and Southeast Asia, as well as Afghanistan and rebel-held territory in Sri Lanka. He currently lives in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
